The training was held on 2 to 5 September 2014 in Dauis, Bohol as part of FPRDI’s complete techno-transfer package after the company decided to adopt one unit of the 10,000 board feet capacity FTLD.
According to Ms. Grecelda A. Eusebio, “The company uses plantation-grown tree species to produce kiln-dried lumber, wood-based furniture, doors, panels and other woodworks products which are usually sold in Bohol and Cebu.
She explains, “The FTLD is like a very large oven that reduces the moisture content of wood to the desired level. It ensures that wood is dried properly so that it does not shrink or swell when already in use.”
“Distortion or warping impairs the performance of wood especially when it is used as a structural component such as beams and trusses, or in furniture pieces where each part should perfectly fit.” (Rizalina K. Araral, 20 October 2014)#
