(Top photo, right) Mr. Bruce Lovell, a representative of the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA), evaluates the competence of DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute’s Furniture Testing Center (FFTC) staff in furniture test procedures. Lovell visited the laboratory last 02-07 December 2014 as part of the FIRA’s accreditation of the FFTC. He also assessed the satellite furniture testing center in Lahug, Cebu City.
“A FIRA-accredited furniture lab can determine whether or not our client’s products meet British, European and other international standards of quality,” said Engr. Victor G. Revilleza (bottom photo, right), FFTC Technical Manager.
“We are hoping to satisfy all the requirements of the accreditation and become the first FIRA-accredited furniture testing laboratory in the Philippines,” added Engr. Revilleza.
Based in the United Kingdom, FIRA is a recognized global leader in furniture testing. Its partner laboratories include FIRA-Chinese Manufacturers Association (CMA) in Hong Kong and other accredited testing facilities in Singapore, Malaysia and Egypt. (Maybell Mariella A. Amador, 22 January 2015)#
