Researchers train on use of thermal analyzers

Dr. Tamayo, Ms. Lapuz and Ms. Adelina M. Manto attended training courses on the operation of the Perkin Elmer Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Perkin Elmer Thermogravimetic Analyzer, advanced equipment for analyzing materials’ reaction to heat. The courses were held at Wisma Academy, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia last 4-6 June 2012.
Says Ms. Lapuz, “The techniques and principles that we have learned will be useful in our analyses of various forest-based and related materials at FPRDI. They will be helpful in our testing services, and research projects on adhesives, coatings, fire retardants and biocomposites, bioenergy, heat treatment, among others.” (Rizalina K.
