FPRDI Testing Labs Now ISO-accredited
February 20, 2012
Good news to the testing clients of the DOST’s Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI). Two of the institute’s testing laboratories (the Furniture Testing Center and Plywood Testing Laboratory) now conform to ISO standards, while one (Pulp and Paper Testing Laboratory) renewed its accreditation according to PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 or the General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories by the Philippine Accreditation Office (PAO) last January 12, 2012.
According to FPRDI Testing Laboratories’ (FTLs’) Quality Manager Ms. Adela S. Torres, “The benefits of an accredited laboratory include increased reliability and quality of service, customer satisfaction, and better working conditions. Being PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited, FTLs can be expected to provide consistently valid test results to its customers.”
“Additionally, customers who had their products assessed by us will no longer need to be re-tested since the standards used by ISO accredited laboratories are globally recognized. This will then save time and money for the exporters,” Torres added.
The FTLs’ accreditation validity is until January 11, 2017. # (Maybell Mariella A. Amador, 20 February 2012)
