FPRDI researchers train on innovation management and value chain analysis
September 21, 2015

Thirty-five DOST-FPRDI researchers learned the basics of innovation management and value chain analysis in a training-workshop last 08-10 September 2015 at Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna.

Dr. Elvira A. Zamora, University of the Philippines’ Vice President for Development and Professor at the UP Cesar E. A. Virata School of Business, served as Resource Person.

Value chain analysis is a tool for identifying an industry or technology’s key players, support industries and institutions, possible markets, key constraints, opportunities, areas for collaboration and policy options. Innovation management, on the other hand, enables organizations to use creativity in coming up with ideas, products and processes for continuous development.

During the workshop, the participants created their own value chain and came up with strategies to address issues on the bamboo industry.

According to DOST-FPRDI Deputy Director Felix B. Tamolang, “The training was a great opportunity for our researchers to answer these questions– Where are we now? Where do we want to go? and How do we get there?”

The event was organized by the FPRDI Technical Seminar Series Committee and Human Resources Development Committee and funded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCARRD). (Maybell Mariella A. Amador, 14 September 2015)#
