In January 2018, the DOST and DND signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which aims to provide a framework for scientific and technical cooperation and collaboration to achieve a Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP).

The meeting was presided by GA chief Maj. Gen. Daniel R. Casabar (Ret.) and was attended by GA division heads and the FPRDI team consisting of FPRDI Deputy Director For. Felix B. Tamolang, Ms. Mildred M. Fidel, Ms. Adela S. Torres, Engr. Freddie M. Ordinario, Engr. Anniver Ryan P. Lapuz and Mr. Kim Balagot. (Maybell Mariella A. Amador, 08 March 2018)#
