Faculty and researchers from the Catanduanes State University (CSU) visited the DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) for a consultative meeting last 09 May 2018 (photos above).
Led by Dr. Lily P. Custodio, Vice-President of CSU’s Research, Extension and Production Affairs Division, the team inquired about handmade papermaking and on the possibility of using abaca wastes for food packaging materials. They were also toured around FPRDI’s pulp and paper laboratory.
Dubbed as the “abaca county”, Catanduanes accounts for 42% of the total abaca produced in the Philippines. ### (Apple Jean Martin- De Leon, 11 May 2018)
