The DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute is offering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for forestry professionals.
The free CPD training-webinars on 19 and 26 August 2021 will discuss basic finishing techniques. These webinars aim to enrich the knowledge of licensed foresters on how the basic properties of wood and non-wood forest products affect the quality of finishes and vice- versa. Further, it will also explore how proper coating techniques can improve the finishes and enhance the value of manufactured products.
The DOST-FPRDI, thru its Training and Manpower Delivery Services Section (TMDSS), was accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission as a CPD provider for forestry professionals in 2019. CPD units are required for foresters renewing their professional licensure cards. Since then, the Institute has conducted four courses covering topics on the various DOST-FPRDI technologies. Last July 22 and 29’s webinars on Non-Wood Forest Products Preservation and Treatment, were participated in by licensed foresters from various government agencies, LGUs, academe and private sector.
The CPD training-webinars are among the Institute’s many offerings to continuously provide technical services to the forest-based and allied sectors. “DOST-FPRDI believes that the physical distancing we are currently experiencing should not hinder learning. Thus, the Institute is adapting to changes to unceasingly support our clients,” said Dr. Maria Cielito G. Siladan, OIC Chief of the Technical Services Division.
