Ms. Grace Rowena Bisana of DOST-FPRDI’s Technology Innovation Division hands over the soaps to Mr. Angelito Exconde of the EMPC.

The DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) distributed its anti-microbial bamboo handbar soaps during the Cooperative Month celebration in Los Banos, Laguna last October 26-28, 2022.

The soaps were requested and distributed by the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau Multi-Purpose Cooperative (EMPC). Present during the celebration was Ms. Jessica Victoria Cianchino, Canada’s representative to the Miss Earth 2022 contest.

The bamboo soap is a product of DOST-FPRDI’s exploration of the vast potential of our local forest resources. It uses bamboo-activated carbon that helps remove microorganisms or germs by absorbing them. Thru technology demonstration, the Institute has trained around 550 participants from more than 250 groups on bamboo charcoal hand soap production. ### (Apple Jean C.
