
The DOST-FPRDI Gender and Development Members attended the “Enhanced Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework Assessment” on July 12, 2021, via Zoom.
The session aims to provide an appropriate understanding of HGDG, GMEF, as well as to validate the scores of Means of Verification and situates if FPRDI is in the mainstreaming process.
The resource speaker from the Department of Science and Technology, Ms. Maria Fe B. Singson, is a member of the PCW NGRP-GAD Resource Pool. The workshop was attended by 11 members of the GAD Technical Work Group together with Ms. Maria Fe B. Singson. According to Ms. Arlene G. Torres, “All members were selected from the different division of FPRDI”.
Ms. Torres, the Chairperson of the GAD-TWG, stated that the Top management of FPRDI strongly supports their GAD activities and projects.
Participants of the workshop learned the relevance of Gender and Development to all sectors. They become aware of Gender Analysis Tools particularly the Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework tool which can be used to track and assess the development of gender mainstreaming activities.
“The implementation of GAD Mainstreaming results to Gender equality,” said Ms. Singson. The participants learned that the goal of Gender Mainstreaming is to make gender equality a fundamental value in development choices and institutional practice.
The resource speaker shared some tips to identify the next steps of gender mainstreaming of FPRDI. The Means of Verification must comprise the Memorandum, SO, Training, and other GAD-related documents. Participants learned to appreciate the Means of verification to GAD Projects.
The speaker stated that the result of the GMEF Assessment for the year of 2019 of FPRDI-GAD will be released in September 2021.
