DOST-FPRDI holds GAD Focal Point System Executive Briefing
The DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) conducted an executive briefing on the roles and functions of GFPS. The activity aimed to integrate and accelerate gender mainstreaming in all of the Institute’s programs, activities, and services.
The special briefing was the Institute’s response to Magna Carta of Women (MWC)’s appeal to all departments and their attached agencies to establish and strengthen their GFPS and other similar GAD mechanisms. The DOST-FPRDI GFPS prioritizes upskilling its members through understanding and appreciation of their specific roles and functions.
In his opening remarks, DOST-FPRDI OIC Director Rico J. Cabangon challenged GFPS members to link the contributions of DOST-FPRDI to the Silver GADTIMPALA Award received by the DOST.
He expressed his confidence in the GFPS in promoting gender mainstreaming in the Institute and further strengthen DOST-FPRDI’s commitment to abide with GAD principles.
Forester Karen Lagat-Mercado, member of the CALABARZON Gender and Development Resource Pool, served as the resource speaker. During the briefing, she emphasized the importance of the openness, appreciation, understanding, and commitment of the GFPS to make gender mainstreaming a success. According to her, a gender-responsive agency starts with equipped and knowledgeable GFPS.
The activity was held on 18 March 2024 at the DOST-FPRDI Conference Hall. ### (Julius T. Pelegrina, 18 June 2024)
