The DOST- FPRDI’s digital wood moisture meter was one of the technologies included during the 21st International Non-destructive Testing and Evaluation of Wood Symposium held from 24-27 September 2019 in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Dr. Marina A. Alipon, Scientist 1, presented the paper titled “Development and Commercialization of Digital Wood Moisture Meter” at the symposium.
Wooden pallet exporter recognizes FPRDI moisture meter

The management of the Laguna Southwoods Products, Inc. (LSPI), maker and exporter of high quality wooden pallets based in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, recently hailed the FPRDI digital wood moisture meter as an essential tool in their operations.
The FPRDI wood moisture meter is a handheld device that reads the amount of water present in wood, especially of Philippine wood species. It was made using local spare parts and is much cheaper than imported meters at only Php 5,500 per unit.
Private firm to test DOST-FPRDI’s plywood glue

A plywood glue newly formulated by the DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) will soon be tested in making full-sized plywood.
This, after the Institute and a private company signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last 04 October 2019 that prompts the trial run of producing full-sized panels (4 ft. x 8 ft.) using FPRDI-developed glue mixtures with spent tea leaves (STL) and tobacco dust as additives.
