Fidel & Dionglay serve as Oleoresin Experts in Cambodia

Two experts from the Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI) shared their experiences in oleoresin processing in an international forum held last 23 September in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Dubbed as “Stakeholder Forum on Sustainable and Pro-poor Oleoresin Industry Development in Cambodia”, the event was attended by Ms. Mildred Fidel, Chief of the Technical Services Division and Ms. Mariluz Dionglay, Senior Science Research Specialist of the Material Science Division. Fidel presented the paper titled “Integrating Oleoresin Processing for Community-based Forest Development: A Sharing of Philippine Experience”, while Dionglay discussed the “Characterization and End-uses of Dipterocarpus Oleoresins”.

Tamayo presents biofuels paper in Malaysia

Dr. Jennifer P. Tamayo discusses the results of her paper “Second Generation Bioethanol from Gmelina arborea Wood Wastes” before fellow chemists at the International Conference on Chemical Research Applied to World Needs (CHEMRAWN XIX) held 27-29 September 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Organized by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, the conference emphasized the importance of finding solutions to the world’s energy problems using renewable resources. Around 100 participants from 22 countries attended the said conference.

FPRDI takes part in the country’s ecolabelling program

Green is the way to go and the Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI) is doing its share to help in the global effort of “greening the planet”.

One such contribution is FPRDI’s involvement in the national ecolabelling program, which certifies products and services based on environmental standards. Such standards ensure that consumer goods are produced and disposed of using ecologically safe procedures. With this national program, the buying public is guided in choosing products that are environmentally safe.
