To help revitalize the local wood industry, the DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Forest Management Bureau (FMB) partnered in a project to assess the wood processing plants in the Philippines.

The one-year project involved the evaluation of requirements and procedures in issuing wood processing permits (WPPs); assessment of the production capacity of selected WPP holders; and value-chain analysis of various wood-based products. Seventeen WPP holders were evaluated.

The DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) recently joined the nationwide observance of Women’s month with a number of activities. This year’s theme is “We Make Change Work for Women”.

To kick off the celebration, 45 FPRDI staff joined the “Walk for a Cause” civic parade organized by the Municipal Government of Los Baños last 08 March.

The DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) recently participated in the 20th Kabisig Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair held last 26-28 February 2019 in Quezon City.

Aside from its banner programs, the Institute also featured its Furniture Testing Center, Pulp and Paper Testing Laboratory, Plywood Testing Laboratory, and its Wood and Herbarium Identification service.
