DOST-FPRDI conducts seminar on bamboo processing

As an offshoot to last year’s activity conducted with the Office of the Vice President of the Philippines, the DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) held a seminar on bamboo processing and utilization last 15 February 2018 in Taysan, Batangas. The participants, mostly women, are bamboo stick makers from Brgys. Pinagbayanan, Bukal and San Isidro in Taysan.

In a bid to help local artisans find new sources of raw materials, the DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) will be starting this year a research project on forest vines that can be used for handicraft production.
FPRDI employees elect new Board

Members of the Forest Products Research and Development Institute Employees Association Inc. (FPRDIEAI) elected its new Board of Directors (BOD) in a General Assembly last 03 January 2018.

FPRDIEAI’s new BOD are: Mr. Daniel M. Javier, For. Moreno L. Santander Jr., Dr. Jennifer P. Tamayo, For. Florena B. Samiano, Dr. Emelyne C. Cortiguerra, Mr. Noel M. Medrano, and Dr. Rico J. Cabangon (in photo, from L-R). The BOD’s term will end in 2019
FPRDIEAI commits itself to “promoting the moral, social and economic wellbeing of its members and fostering harmonious and progressive labor-management relations”, among others.
