Forest vines can be turned into beautiful handicrafts that are in demand locally and abroad.

In a bid to help local artisans find new sources of raw materials, the DOST- Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) will be starting this year a research project on forest vines that can be used for handicraft production.

Members of the Forest Products Research and Development Institute Employees Association Inc. (FPRDIEAI) elected its new Board of Directors (BOD) in a General Assembly last 03 January 2018.

FPRDIEAI commits itself to “promoting the moral, social and economic wellbeing of its members and fostering harmonious and progressive labor-management relations”, among others. DOST-FPRDI develops hot press for engineered bamboo.

A hot press machine to make life a little easier for producers of engineered bamboo has been developed by the Department of Science and Technology – Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI). The hot press was designed to cut the production time of engineered bamboo products.
